Trying to figure out how to use Sync3 in the 2021 Ford Transit Connect Passenger Wagon? Take a look at this video to find out!

This is the screen that we’re going to be met with when the vehicle is first turned on so this is the sync 3 screen it’s the six and a half inch screen it’s going to be the same whether you look at the xlt or the titanium version of the vehicle now when you get into the xl that’s when you’re still in the regular sync system so guys trust me on this one spend the

Extra couple bucks and get into the xlt you’ve got the ability to use android auto and apple carplay inside of this thing and there also is the option to have built in navigation now you don’t necessarily need to use factory navigation with the android auto and apple car carplay support you do have the ability to run off of either google maps apple maps waze

Whatever the case may be directly through this middle screen so very very straightforward as you can see we’ve got our audio button so audio on or off we’ve got a basic compass and from there we’ve got the ability to either add in a phone very very straightforward now if we had navigation it would show up just in the middle there and we would have a map on the

Front of the screen instead as we start to navigate through we’ve got our sources so we’ve got our basic audio settings so we can change between am fm series xm or if our phone was connected we could go through bluetooth instead we can direct you in a couple different ways so we are currently on am so if we switch out to fm siriusxm whatever the case may be we

Can direct tune by typing in any station we’d like to pressing ok and as you can see we’ve tuned there in order to be able to save a preset once you’ve changed to a station all we’re going to do is press and hold as you can see you’re now saved in very very straightforward now we can tune a couple different ways we can either direct tune this way as you can see

We also do have a knob there and there also is the option to press this button on the steering wheel in order to change the station that way using your voice adding a phone is a very straightforward process all we’re going to do is we’re going to press the phone button on the bottom and we’re just going to press add phone search for your vehicle on your device and

Select it once it is found now you’re going to make sure that your bluetooth is set on is turned on on your phone and from there on the very bottom as you can see we’ve got ford transit connect which has shown up we’re just going to press that confirm that the pin displayed on sync matches the pin displayed on your device okay so it’s giving us a message so we’re

Looking to make sure that these numbers are the same so they’re the same we’re going to hit pair on your phone and yes on the screen for your safety please stay alert to changing road conditions and usync’s voice activated features in motion so it’s connected to the phone now it also is asking us do you want to allow contacts and favorites to sync we absolutely want

To make sure that we do that and the big reason why is because we want our contacts to automatically download to the screen next up we’ve also got our 911 assist so i always recommend to make sure the 911 assist is turned on and the reason why is because if you’re ever in an accident with your phone turned on and this function turned on the phone will automatically

The vehicle i should say will automatically dial 911 for you and automatically contact download we absolutely want to make sure we do that hit finish and as you can see we’re set up so we can look at my contacts my phone we can change phones if we’ve running off of multiple phones look at my text messages things like that so very very straightforward in order to

Be able to disconnect the phone all we’re going to do is go to settings and actually before we do let’s jump into apps for a second so as you can see there are certain mobile apps that will work through this middle screen so one of the nice ones we’ve got live x live spotify things like that will all work through this middle screen so rather than having to navigate

Through your phone really really useful moving into our settings going into phone from there we can either view devices set ringtones and a number of other things to delete a device all we’re going to do is select on the device either disconnect or completely remove so let’s just hit remove yes as you can see we are now disconnected and the phone is fully deleted

From that sync 3 system as we start to move down there so we’ve got our basic apps we can add a device or look at mobile apps moving into our settings we’ve got a lot of different options that are available along the top we’ve got some basic sound settings so that’s going to be our treble mid-range bass and a few other options moving back we’ve got basic clock

Settings so we can either increase or decrease an hour or a minute we can change between our military time or our traditional am pm so the 12 hour clock and we can reset the clock to our gps time so wherever the vehicle figures we are next up we’ve got the ability to either add bluetooth devices we can turn bluetooth off completely we can add a phone in by

Pressing this button moving into our radio so radio text is the text that’s going to show up so this is the radio text whether or not you want that to show up next one is going to be our preset pages so our pre preset pages we can go up to six so i always recommend make sure you max this one out as a default and the reason why it’s gonna update in a sec there

We go let’s go back home now look at this we’ve got the ability to have up to 30 individual stations saved and that can be a mix as you can see between am fm siriusxm etc as we get into our mobile apps there are certain mobile apps that can be enabled by usb now one of the nice things as i mentioned is that the vehicle does have apple carplay and android auto

Support let’s actually look to see how that’s set up now so as you can see it’s a very straightforward process now moving into our general settings general settings we’ve got the ability to change language english spanish french we can go celsius or fahrenheit kilometers or miles the beep that we’re getting if that beep drives you nuts you can turn it off so

Really straightforward automatic system updates i absolutely recommend make sure that you keep this one turned on and the big reason why is because when the vehicle is connected to wi-fi at home it’s automatically going to update firmware for the vehicle it’s always a good idea to keep that one engaged 911 assist very straightforward wi-fi so at home you do have

The ability to connect to a wi-fi network big thing there is that you want to make sure that you’re doing that in order to be able to get automatic updates automatic updates tied in there next up fordpass connect the vehicle does have the ability to be active essentially act as a wireless hotspot really really beneficial and that is in the xlt or the titanium

Trim level of the vehicle but really really neat so you can use it for up to 10 devices you do need a data plan but one of the nice things is that you’d also technically would have the ability to remote start the vehicle directly through them your phone instead so really really nice if you don’t have the built-in functionality on your key fob pressing back as you

Can see there we’ve got apple carplay android auto etc first things first what we’re going to do is make sure that we start off with our usb cable and we’re literally just going to plug that into any available port so as you can see i am plugged in there and we’re just going to take the other end and connect it to the phone step number two what we’re going to do

Is we’re going to take that and we’re just going to plug the usb port into our phone just to power it up as you can see there apple carplay lets you use your phone in a way so we’re going to do is hit continue privacy terms and conditions we do need to make sure we agree to this or else we won’t be able to use apple carplay or android auto okay now all we have to

Do is unlock the phone in order to be able to start carplay so all you’re going to do is enter your combination you’re going to do face id or your fingerprint whatever the case may be to unlock and as you can see we are now connected we’ve got my phone music maps messages podcasts and a number of other things one of the nice things is that we’ve got the ability

To be able to change what icons are currently showing up and as you can see there we can use maps from our phone so if you don’t have a sync 3 system that’s got your maps you’ve got the capability to use google maps apple maps waze whatever the case may be so really really useful feature pressing that button essentially acts like the home button for your iphone

You’ve got the ability to move between different stations there if we go through our podcasts if we had different music and audio settings set up we’ve got the ability to start playing that as well through our music settings so really really neat we can actively view our messages now one of the nice things is that if you ever needed to get back to the home screen

Of sync 3 all you need to do is press this little icon and as you can see we’re now back there but as a default now what it’s going to do is launch apple carplay for certain things so if you go to use our phone it’s going to pull up our phone we go back home there we’ve also got the ability now to go to our maps when we do that it’s going to launch right into

Our apple maps back home very safe very same thing as we go back home we’ve got the ability to jump back into apple car place so lots of ways to get back into car play from there in order to be able to get rid of carplay all we’re going to do is press this forward button there and along the side so we can go and scroll over into our apple carplay and we can

Completely disable it which will then bring us back to as you can see there our phone and our app screen so the phone is still charging which is great but we are running off of that instead using android auto is the exact same process so different usb cable we’re just going to plug into our android device and give it a second so as you can see welcome to android

Auto same message basically the same message what we just saw with the apple car play we’re just going to hit continue and same thing we have to agree in order to be able to use it now it’s trying to unlock the device so what we’re going to do is we have to unlock in order to continue so we’re going to unlock the device unlock to continue and what it would like to

Do so turn on bluetooth in order to pair and allow car access so we’re going to hit yes and next there just a sec and as you can see there we are now connected really really straightforward really really simple it has defaulted to a map view so i’ll be pressing that button as you can see we’ve got the ability to use waze we can use google maps so tons of options

There which is really really neat so automatically download contacts yes we’ve got waze we’ve got google maps our podcasts our phone and a number of other options so if we go to waze for a second there as you can see we now have waze set up really really neat we can switch out to our podcast jump back into the home screen we can use our google voice assistant

Also and very similar to what we just saw with apple carplay by pressing this forward exit it’s going to default us back to our main screen there so we can jump back into our phone jump into our maps again which again same thing we’ve got the ability to either use waze or just google maps now we do have the ability to use waze or google maps really matter of

Personal preference there but whatever map app you use really straightforward just search and you’re set to go in order to be able to disconnect through android auto while still making sure your phone is charged we’re just going to back go back to the home screen we’re going to hit exit and we’re going to go settings from settings we’re going to select android

Auto and we’re just going to turn android auto off so as you can see the phone is still charging while at the same time we are still connected as we move into some basic vehicle settings we’ve got camera settings in our modem serial number basic display settings so we can turn the screen off really really nice if you’re not a fan of having that cluster and that

You know distraction press in order to turn it back on and we can also have a calming screen instead so very very straightforward press to turn that one back on also jumping back into our settings we’ve got some more display settings we can change between our background our brightness and then our mode so we’re currently looking at the daytime mode if we switch

Out to night time mode you can select it so either it’s daytime all the time or but i love love that blue but again really a matter of personal preference you can leave it on auto and the vehicle will automatically flip you between daytime and night time depending on how bright it is outside from there we’ve also got our voice control settings three individual the

Advanced mode what that’s going to do is not give you if you have advanced mode on you won’t get as many prompts i want you to listen to this for a second 94.9 tuning to fm 94.9 okay so it’s changed radio stations but it gave us a message there now if we turn the advanced mode on let’s do that again tuned to 97.7 okay now wait a minute look at this it’s changed

The station but it didn’t give us those same commands so i do recommend to keep the advanced mode on and the reason why is because you won’t get as many prompts and confirmation notices phone confirmation when you’re making a phone call do you want to call such and such person absolutely make sure you do that from there you’ve got your command list so the command

List is this little screen that comes up so whether or not that one shows up really a matter of preference last one to point out is going to be the valet mode so with valet mode enabled you enter a four digit combination use something difficult don’t use one zero zero zero zero or one two three four etcetera but what that does is that locks out the screen so now

You can’t do anything you can’t look at your phone contact settings things like that until you re-enter that four-digit number and press done again and that’s going to be the basics of that sync 3 screen
