Hey everyone and welcome back to the channel today i’m down at keffer mazda and we’re going to take a look at this 2021 mazda cx-9 carbon edition huge shout out to them for providing this suv for me today make sure you check out their website that link is down in the description the model that you see behind me is finished off in poly metal carbon metallic and it
Has an msrp just over forty five thousand dollars we’re going to start off today’s review with what powers the cx-9 underneath the hood you’ll find the two and a half liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine it’s paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and it makes 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque it’s also all-wheel drive weighs in right around
4 hundred pounds it’ll do zero to sixty in around seven seconds up to its top speed of 130 miles an hour it also has a fuel capacity of 19 and a half gallons so you can expect to see around 20 miles per gallon in the city and 26 out on the highway this has a wheelbase of 115.3 inches its overall length is 199.4 it has a width of 77.5 inches and a height of 67.7
And now it’s time to take a look at the exterior on the cx-9 so i’m going to start off with the headlight housing we have led headlights led drls and led turn signals it’s really neat too how the turn signals are split off on both sides of the drl which has a really nice circular shape surrounding the headlight so it just gives it a really cool design within the
Headlight housing itself and it also flows nicely to this chrome trim piece so i like how the points on the top and the bottom come to this edge here and then we have this chrome trim surrounding the entire lower section of the grille you’ll also notice too the bodywork surrounding the headlights we have a nice line just underneath it that also flows underneath
This chrome trim piece and you’ll see the hood breaks off to this large portion on the top section of the grille kind of giving a great look going all the way to this point you’ll also notice right in the center we have the large mazda badge this also acts as the forward-facing sensor so it’s really nice how that is incorporated and you don’t see that breaking
Up the rest of this front end look you’ll also notice that this has gloss black trim pieces in the grille plenty of cutouts to provide cooling to that turbocharged engine there’s also a nice air inlet in the lower section of the bumper and you can see more of that chrome surrounds the entire lower section just tying it nicely with this piece that you see below
The grille and tucked up nicely on both sides are the led fog lights and then last up talking about this hood we have really nice lines that continue from the a-pillar all the way to the top here just giving it a nice clean look as we work our way to the side profile now this model has a really nice set of 20 by eight and a half inch wheels they’re finished off
In black have a five split spoke designed to them you’ll also notice this trim piece surrounding the fender flares it also extends around the lower section of the front bumper and down the side skirts where you’ll also notice more of that chrome trim which ties in nicely with all the chrome that you saw up front this model also has power folding side mirrors
They’re finished off in black we have the integrated turn signal as well and then up on the roof there’s a lot going on this has a sunroof you can see the roof rails are finished off in chrome and this model also has a roof rack installed as well you’ll also notice there’s more chrome trim surrounding the windows just to tie it in nicely there’s also a black trim
Between both of the windows and then you’ll also notice a really nice line that starts at the hood that goes through the front quarter panel underneath the side mirrors kind of tapers off at this back door handle here and there’s also another one just above the lower side skirts just to give this a great side profile look and last up for the cx-9 you’ll see this
Has a body colored spoiler along with the integrated third brake light wiper blade is in the lower section of the glass to help improve with better visibility this also has led tail lights we have a really nice sleek design just like you saw up front and you’ll also notice this chrome trim piece running right through the power lift gate it actually protrudes into
The housings themselves just to tie it in and give it a really nice look this also has a backup camera you’ll see all the parking sensors down in the lower diffuser where there’s also another chrome trim piece running right through the middle and on each side of that there’s the dual exhaust and this also has a towing capacity up to 3 500 pounds now it’s time
To take a look at the interior on this cx-9 so i have the vehicle locked and the key in my pocket all i need to do is push on this black button on the back side of the door handle you’ll see these side mirrors open up and now we can move on to this door panel you’ll see it’s covered with black leather and red stitching that goes all the way up to the grab handle
You can see the release handle just above that along with a nice black trim piece surrounding it there’s all the window controls along with the side mirror adjustments this model also has the 12 speaker bose audio sound system and you can see there’s a good amount of storage space in the back side of the door there as we work our way to the interior you can see
Cx-9 down on the door sill and now we can move on to these beautiful red leather seats which is a really nice accent against this exterior color these are heated seats as well you can see the inserts have a really nice design to them good bolstering support along with red stitching running down them and then down on the side we have the memory seating adjustments
Along with all the automatic controls and once inside with my foot on the brake it’s time to start it up and looking at the gauge cluster you can see on the left side is the tack right in the middle is the speedometer and over on the right side is the fuel gauge along with the engine temperature and then on each side of the speedometer you can see the live readout
For mpg along with your range until empty if you’d like to view it that way and then right in the center of the spirometer there’s some information you can go through using this info button over on the left side of the steering wheel so if i push on it once you can pull up trip a push on it again for trip b you can also pull up your distance pacing when that is
On and active you can see when your next service is due look at the navigation when that is on and running and then you can shut it off so it’s nice to see that amount of information right in the middle and then as we work our way to this leather wrapped steering wheel you can see the red stitching running along the inside which ties in nicely with these seats
Over on the right side we have all the crews and adaptive cruise control settings and then also on the left side you can see volume for the radio along with bluetooth and voice commands this model also has the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters so you can see they are finished off in black and then making your way to the left side of the steering wheel you’ll
See you can turn on and off the parking sensors along with the lane keeping assist there’s a button for the power liftgate as well as a downhill assist control you can see there is one air vent as well and then as we work our way to the middle here this is the 10.3 inch screen you can control that using all these dials down below so you can see a music button
Along with the home button and navigation there’s a back arrow a customizable button and then we have the rotary dial that you can also click on as well so just by clicking on the home button right in the middle you can pull up this screen here and look at some information pull up your music if you’d like to you can go into communication when you have your phone
Hooked up and running there’s also the navigation and settings to go into as well so you can configure all this to your liking of course you can go through all this information and if i go back and hit home again that will pull up just the time so if you’d like to hide all that information you can do that as well and then also on the right side of that is another
Power and volume button for the radio you can see the electronic parking brake along with the auto hold assist and then as we work our way back up to the top you’ll see the leather covering this portion of the dash along with a really nice trim piece surrounding two air vents and then working your way below that you can see all the climate controls we also have
The heated steering wheel button you can see the heated seat adjustments along with fan speed where you’d like the air to go and all those settings down below really nice digital screen so that’s separate from the upper screen which makes it really nice to see and then this also has a dual zone climate so you can of course adjust the temperature for driver and
Passenger you’ll also notice a little bit of storage space just below that along with a wireless charging port and then making your way to the shifter now you can see the shift boot has more red stitching on it and if i go ahead and put the vehicle into reverse you can see the backup camera up here with the guidelines along with these sensors too so it gives you
Really nice graphics we can go all the way down into drive of course and pop it over into the manual setting which allows you to use these paddles and then just to the left of that we have the sport mode button so you can push that up or down to activate or deactivate sport mode and then working our way to the middle here you’ll see there are two cupholders we
Have more leather and stitching on the center armrest and you can open these up individually you’ll see there’s a lot of room for anything you need to place there along with some usb ports on the back section and then as we work our way to this glove box you’ll see there’s plenty of room for all of that information we’ll go ahead and take one last look at these
Beautiful red leather seats and then as i mentioned earlier this does have a sunroof so we can open up that sun shade there’s the control for the sunroof right in the center along with the dome lights and a sunglass holder onto the middle row now for the cx-9 i’m going to start off with the amount of room that i have in this captain’s chair at five foot ten i
Have the front seat set at my height plenty of room for my feet and my legs i have around three or four inches above my head these seats are also adjustable too so i can go all the way up if needed or all the way back and i can also recline them too we have the adjustable armrest so you have a lot of comfort in this middle row the middle row is also heated as
Well so we have those controls right in the middle along with the climate controls for the middle row fan speed where you’d like the air to go temperature all of those controls and a nice lcd screen to view that information you’ll see two air vents just below that along with two cup holders and then at the base there are two usb ports which makes it easy to charge
Electronics if you need to you’ll also notice there are storage pockets behind both front seats and the middle row passengers also have this adjustable sun shade so you can use that as needed if you’d like to and then making your way to the third row now before we do that you can fold the middle row down if you’d like to and put them flat so if you need that extra
Storage space and then to gain access to the middle row you can either walk right through the middle or pull this tab on the backrest and the seat will slide forward making it very easy to hop into the back where you’ll see my head is just up against the roof line here and just touching the back of these seats i could move these forward if i needed to but at 5 foot
10 i could easily be back here for a long period of time and fit comfortably so that is nice to see you’ll also notice a cup holder and a little bit of storage space on both sides along with two usb ports and last up we’ll take a look at the rear trunk storage space so i’m just going to kick my foot up underneath the vehicle and this has the hands-free option of
Opening up the power liftgate of course you can use the button on the key fob if you’d like to but that’s a really nice hands-free option to see and with that open you can see with the third row up there is plenty of space to put in any items you’d like to there’s even some hidden storage space up underneath the floor if you need to utilize that and then you can
Also see it goes out to the passenger side and the driver side there so you can put in larger items if you need to and then of course the third row can be folded down just by pushing on that latch there and when you have both of those folded down and even the second row you can see there’s a lot of space for any larger items you’d like to place in here and then
With the middle row up and the third row down you can see you have a nice flat surface along with some tie down hooks to safely secure items and there’s even some hooks on both sides you can put groceries or bags any items like that and then being the power liftgate we can just push this button up top it will automatically close all right so getting the 2021 mazda
Cx-9 out on the road now this has been a really cool suv to check out and it’s the first time that i’ve been behind the wheel of one but i want to start off with this color combo because we have the gray exterior and these solid red leather seats that’s a really nice color combo it gives us a very upscale interior look to it along with that we have some very nice
Materials you already saw the leather steering wheel really nice trim pieces that surround the door panel we have all of the black and chrome right in the center here so it just ties in nicely for this price point you’re getting a very nice interior we also have the infotainment system that’s easy to go through all the controls that are down below there so it’s
Really easy to go through everything i love the layout too and now that i’ve put a few miles on it it’s been a really comfortable ride i have no issues with that let’s go ahead and pop it into sport mode here and we’ll give it a little bit of gas getting up to the speed limit and for that two and a half liter turbo we’re up to the speed limit just like that wasn’t
Gunning it or flooring it so it definitely has plenty of power to get up and moving especially if you were out merging into traffic highway situation speeds things like that and it’s also nice to see that this has a little bit of towing so if you want to put a small trailer on this you can if you have to but this is a really nice three row almost a full size suv
But it’s really nice how mazda has incorporated that three row into the size of this vehicle as you already saw i can fit back in that third row and there’s even room behind the third row which makes it very practical you can put in three rows of people here and still have room behind those seats to put in extra storage or you can fold them down and that gives
You a lot more room so that is awesome to see for the size of this as we’re coming around this right-hand turn here handling is really nice so for the size of this it handles well has a good amount of power to get up and moving and then doing a quick ue here turning radius is very easy so this is a very maneuverable vehicle at the same time and visibility is
Also really good for a three row vehicle i can look over my right shoulder there i can look over my left shoulder to see the traffic that’s coming right now the pillars in the back are not all that bulky so you can see around them but i think that’s going to wrap it up for my walk around review and test drive getting the 2021 mazda cx-9 carbon edition out on the
